"Vip bus" ticket Port-au-Prince and Cap Haitian? 140 dollars.
Theorically this is what happens everywhere; it would be enough to know the exchange rate "Dollar of Haiti" - "Euro" and here we are. No, because Haiti Dollar...doesn't exist and, of course, it is not that "green" from Usa!
The official currency in this Caribbean Country is Gourdes (Htg) and (july 2015) 1 euro=59 Gourdes.
How does it works then?
There is an additional step: 1 dollar of Haiti=5 Gourdes; Haitians calls the 100 Gourdes bill, "Twenty dollars".
And this is, for example, the price for one ham&cheese sandwich. Sandwich and Coca Cola? "$ 24". you have to get out of your wallet 120 Gourdes
First two days I have asked many times: "Excuse me, Wouldn't it be easier to say/write the price in Gourde or, that could be the same, to compare Dollars and Gourds: a Prestige Beer costs 35 Dollars and I give you 35 Gourdes?" The answer i got: "
"No. The Prestige costs $7 and you must give me 35 Gourdes, if it not comfortable for you can back to your house.".
I visited Haiti in July and August 2015
